I am hopeful that Gladwell will approach the topic of gun violence with an open mind, unfettered by the pressures of the progressive left. I say this because back in September of 2025 he came out and admitted that his previous position that athletes born male participating in sports as female was totally acceptable was actually "nuts". He said he publicly took that position (that males transitioned to females should be able to compete against born females) because he was afraid of getting "canceled". The fact that he is now aware of how outside pressure from a relatively small number of progressive elites can influence his public position on a subject gives me hope that he will approach the gun violence issue from a relatively neutral position.

Though I will say that if his book does contradict the prevailing main stream media view of gun violence being directly caused by "gun culture", it will have much less influence and be given much less coverage than if it reinforces that view.

If it's at all well balance, it will be buried by the MSM, just as the chapter in the original Freakonomics book by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner where they found that a house with a pool was much more dangerous for small children than a house with a gun.

I listened to his Guns Part 1 podcast. He is as ignorant of the law as those who say they have a right to keep and bear arms in any manner and for any purpose.
